Zero is the name for both the digit 0 and the number 0. Sometimes it is written in a slashed form, cf. slashed zero (the slash does not extend beyond the 0), which can be produced in HTML as a combined character: 0̸. It is to be distinguished from the symbol for an empty set, i.e. ∅, and the Scandinavian languages letter Ø.
